Account restrictions and blocked accounts

Who can use Sumsub ID

Sumsub ID is available to anyone who meets these requirements:

  • You are 18 or older. Sumsub ID requires you to be at least 18 years old.

  • You are not located in a restricted region. Sumsub ID is not available in Iran, Venezuela, or North Korea. If you are from one of these regions, you cannot create or use a Sumsub ID account.

If either restriction applies to you, you will not be able to create a Sumsub ID account — either directly at id.sumsub.com or during a verification with a partner app.

Your Sumsub ID account has been blocked

Sumsub may block a Sumsub ID account if it detects activity that puts your identity documents at risk. Blocking is a protective measure — it prevents anyone from accessing or sharing the documents stored in your account until the situation is resolved.

Why accounts get blocked

The most common reasons for a block are:

  • Multiple people are using the same account. If Sumsub detects that more than one person has accessed a Sumsub ID account, the account is blocked. This can happen when family members share an email address or when multiple people use the same computer and browser to sign in. Each Sumsub ID account is meant for one person only — the person whose identity documents are stored in it.

  • Suspicious activity. If Sumsub detects unusual behavior connected to your account that could indicate fraud or unauthorized access, the account is blocked. Sumsub errs on the side of caution to make sure your identity documents stay safe.

What happens when your account is blocked

When your account is blocked, you cannot sign in, share documents, or access your stored information.

What to do if your account is blocked

If you believe your account was blocked incorrectly, contact Sumsub support. Explain your situation and the support team will review your account.

To prevent your account from being blocked, do not share your email login with other people. Your Sumsub ID account is personal to you and is tied to your identity documents.
